We have tagged our products with icons to help you quickly determine if a chair is the correct one for you. You will see them next to products throughout the site. A product may have something like next to it. That would mean that the chair is a 2 Position chair and is suitable for a Medium sized person. To better understand our icon system, it is probably a good thing to first understand what the icons actually represent. A good place to start is to learn about the different lift chair types.
Choosing the right type of lift chair for you...
The single most important factor in deciding which is the right lift chair for you is to first determine what position type you will need. There are three distinct varieties; the 2 Position
, 3 Position
and Infinite Position
. Below, we describe each position in detail accompanied with a graphical representation. The most important thing when looking at our example is to understand that we have highlighted the major positions. The lift chair can recline or lift to all positions in-between the highlighted positions.
A two position lift chair is perfect for people who do not need for their chair to fully recline. Two Positions are classified as such because they have two major positions; straight and a slight recline. This chair is perfect for watching television. The two position lift chair isn't limited to two positions. It can recline to any position in-between straight and reclined.
A three position lift chair goes one step further than the two position lift chair in that it can almost reach a full incline. We stress almost here because the three position lift chair doesn't achieve a perfect horizontal line. There is a slight "V" where the back and seat meet. This chair is perfect for watching television and napping. The three position lift chair isn't limited to three positions. It can recline to any position in-between straight and its fully reclined position.
An infinite position lift chair is capable of achieving a fully reclined position. The infinite position lift chairs have dual motors, one for the back and one for the legs. This allows for an "infinite" amount of positions that can be achieved. The infinite lift chair is also able to achieve the "Trendelenburg position" where the feet are higher than the heart.
So... you should know a bit more about the Lift Chair Position system. You can now search for the one that's right for your needs. If, for example, you decide you want a 3 Position lift chair, then you'll look for chairs marked with the icon.
Knowing what type is right for you is only part of the search process though. We've also "tagged" our chairs with Sizes.
